The basic auxiliary rooms of ICU include doctors office, director office, staff lounge, central workstation, therapeutic room, dispensing room, instrument room, dressing room, clean room, waste disposal room, duty room, washing room, etc. Conditional ICU can be equipped with other auxiliary rooms, including classroom, home reception room, laboratory, nutrition preparation room and so on. The ratio of room area to auxiliary room should be above 1.5:1.

Bedside monitoring system
Each bed is equipped with a bedside monitoring system to monitor the basic vital signs, such as electrocardiogram, blood pressure, pulse oxygen saturation, and invasive pressure monitoring. In order to facilitate the safe transport of patients, each ICU unit is equipped with at least 1 portable monitors. The ICU monitor, as a basic equipment, is equipped with each bed, and is fixed on a bedside or functional column that is easy to observe.
The infusion pump and the micro injection pump should be equipped each bed, in which the microinjection pump is more than 2 sets per bed. A certain number of enteral nutrition infusion pumps are also provided.
Electrical and electronic devices are more concentrated in ICU. In design, each monitoring ward should have more than 12 power outlets, 2 oxygen interfaces, 2 compressed air interfaces, and 2 negative pressure suction interfaces. The medical electricity and the living lighting are separated by electric lines. The power supply for each ICU bed should be supplied by an independent feedback circuit. ICU should have standby uninterruptible power system (UPS) and leakage protection device.
